Summary: "Great Travel Book"

I travel frequently both internationally and domestically. I always buy a Frommer's Day by Day book for each new place that I visit. I love the way the book is organized and the pull out maps are so convenient. It is also a great size; you can carry it around with you without it weighing you down. A really great feature is the day trips that they have planned out. I highly recommend this series to travellers.

Summary: "Convenient, very usable"

I've had several of these guides, and very much like the smaller format and heavy-duty laminated paper. They're much easier to carry than a traditionally-sized guide, and contain useful and well-organized information. The variety of daily tours based on how much time you have to spend spares you the chore of having to do that kind of planning in advance. Best of all, the maps are excellent, particularly when it comes to public transportation. I've often had to purchase those separately. This is an excellent value.

Summary: "Perhaps the best guide to Boston for visitors"

Just came back from a week in Boston - and out of several books I browsed and two I bought to prepare for my trip, this is the one that was the most useful to me. It's laid out intelligently, with mini-tours to go on based on how many days you're planning on staying, as well as guides to the sorts of neighborhoods you're most likely to explore if you're a visitor. Granted, you're going to have to have a lot of stamina if you try and do everything in Marie Morris' 3-day tour! I found the neighborhood guides and the maps much more useful, along with Morris' walking tours of each neighborhood.

What I especially like about this book is Marie Morris' writing style. It's chatty and opinionated, which is a pleasant break from many rather dry travelogues. Also, the photography seems to be ever-so-slightly better than in rival books. This combination makes this a book that you'll enjoy planning your trip with, as well as carrying on your journey.

So if you're planning a trip to Boston, by all means check this book out!

Summary: "Great book for a tourist in Boston"

I really liked the book.
Easy to use, clear, nice recommendations.
Small footprint - easy to carry.

As for the food - The author must be American. It doesn't stand in any other standards :-)

Summary: "The Best Boston Guide Book!"

I just returned from my first trip from Boston (5 days of sight-seeing), and this book was priceless! It's compact, so I was able to easily carry it everywhere with me. The maps are terrific, and it gives just enough information about each attraction, restaurant, etc. to help you decide if you want to include it on your itinerary. The descriptions of each location are concise and accurate. I found the ratings to be helpful and accurate, too. There are great suggestions no matter what your interest--for shoppers, walkers, families with children, art lovers, history buffs, etc. I looked in my local bookstore at Boston travel guides before I left and decided on this one--it turned out to be a great choice!!
